A group of us will be going Friday, the 30th, 6pm. Be there for a group photo. Bonus points for festive dogs.

XMAS party 2012 tickets sales

1:00 PM to 2:30 PM, Sunday, 9 December 2012,Yarralumla dog park.

We will be having our inaugural xmas party with a sausage sizzle and soft drinks for the humans, and whatever BYO treats for the canines.

A ticket per person guarantees you a couple of sausages, drinks and some desert. You can come without a ticket, and you are free to invite others - but we will have dogs guarding the tables, so watch your ankles if you don't have a ticket and feeling peckish! If we have spare change after purchasing the food, we may have a door prize for the dogs!
Sorry, but we cannot accept "pay at the door" for this event, as we will need the money to purchase the food prior to the event.

The Canberra Dachshunds' next meet up will be held on Sunday, October 14, from 2pm at the regular place in the Yarralumla dog park (next to Weston park, near the nursery), where our dogs can run unleashed and have fun.

Poppy needs a home

Update (30/9/12)!

I am glad to announce that Poppy (http://www.canberradachshunds.com/2012/09/poppy-needs-home.html) has found a loving family in Sydney, and after taking care of her for two weeks, Sesame and Chickpea can take a break from chasing and being chased by her.

Thanks for all who offered support - our only regret is that she didn't stay long enough for us to bring her to our next meeting so everyone could share her unique personality.

We'd especially like to extend our thanks to Astrid, who found her on the street and helped send an urgent S.O.S. (save our sausage) message. Thanks also to Sharman from dachshund rescue, whose amazing organisational skills help find the perfect home for Poppy.

Poppy (temporary name which she somewhat answers to) has been found on the streets and is now in the Canberra dog pound waiting for a family. She is a short haired dachshund (perhaps crossed with something else, but dachshund is the most prevalent), no more than 3 years old according to the vet, but we suspect much younger since she has some baby teeth.

Our group's Sesame and Chickpea will be taking her home from the pound and fostering her until such time that a caring family is found.

If you know anyone who can look after a gutsy littly sausage, please contact us or have them contact us by email and we can arrange an introduction. Poppy should come up on the dachshund rescue site on Thursday.

Only three families came to our last meeting, with a total of 5 dogs. But our new member Daisy more than made up for the numbers with her high spirits and shenanigans!

Birthday party meetup photos

Photos were taken at the Tuggeranong dog park on August 18th (birthday party for Thomas, Chickpea and Sesame, and a lot of August sausages).

The Canberra Dachshunds' next meeting will be held on Sunday, August 19 at the Tuggeranong dog park where our dogs can run unleashed and have fun. We will be there from 2pm.

Million Paws Walk Recap

Canberra dachshunds have participated in the million paws walk this weekend, and lots of sausages turned up with their humans. We helped spread the word of the royal dachshund in Canberra (and met at least two new members). We have helped raise $380 for the RSPCA - so thanks to all the contributors, you deserve a treat, so here are a few happy wieners' shots:

Million Paws Walk
